Invest Lisboa is offering more than 45,000 euros in prizes in a video contest. The contest will reward the winner with a scholarship worth 35,000 euros for The Lisbon MBA Católica | Nova and a money price of 2,500 euros. Participants may also win scholarships in IADE – Creative University and ETIC – Escola de Tecnologias Inovação e Criação.
The competition is part of the City Council's platform “Study in Lisbon” and aims to attract foreign students and researchers to Lisbon. Therefore, participants are expected to produce two minute promotional videos addressing Lisbon’s advantages regarding the quality of life and the quality of education.
"Capturing talent is as important as capturing companies and investments and that is what we intend with this contest. Lisbon is an academic city par excellence and the attraction of students and researchers has a positive and multiplier impact. A foreign student in Lisbon today, is an ambassador of the city for the rest of his life”, says Rui Coelho, Executive Director of Invest Lisboa.
The creativity of the proposals will be a valued aspect and above all the communicational impact of the videos on the target audience, composed of foreign students and researchers.
The jury will select a maximum of six proposals, which will then be voted by the public, through views, on Invest Lisboa’s YouTube page.
Applications may be individual or collective and must be submitted by May 31.

"Study in Lisbon" is the name of Lisbon's new platform for international students. Launched by Lisbon's City Council on March 19, this online platform aims to internationalize the city and to help students thinking about studying in Lisbon.
The platform is part of a City Council's initiative called "Lisbon Erasmus City", created to strengthen and internationalize Lisbon and to and attract and retain foreign students.
Paulo Soeiro de Carvalho, Municipal Director for Economy and Innovation, presented the platform and stated the City Council's will to increase Lisbon's visibility on an international level. He added that city has "all the conditions to welcome and integrate international students".
The "Study in Lisbon" platform is an important tool for students that are interested in moving to Lisbon. It provides useful information about the city, maps, accomodation contacts, lists of universities, among others.
Over the past four years, the number of foreign students in Lisbon grew 39%. Lisbon now hosts 3,000 students of foreign nationality, 158 research centers, 15,000 researchers, 3 science and technology parks and 11 business incubators.
In the academic year of 2012/2013, 34.000 students finished their higher education studies in Greater Lisbon, with particular emphasis on the areas of health, business, social sciences and engineering. One quarter of the population residing in the city have higher academic qualification.
